A Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) is a Girl Scout in grades 10 or 11 who participates in our extremely successful Leadership Program directed toward her future in camp counseling, teaching, or other human service fields. Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa is proud to offer one of the most successful C.I.T. programs in the nation. Based upon the resources of Girl Scouts of the USA, this Leadership Program is completed over a two summer period. After successful completion of the program, C.I.T.'s are eligible to apply to work as camp staff.

Grade 10 – C.I.T. I: This session focuses on becoming a responsible leader, understanding and implementing program goals, learning about contemporary issues and how they impact today’s youth, exploring and developing your own leadership style, learning about child development, outdoor living skills, group dynamics, conflict resolution, and interacting with younger campers.

Grade 11 – C.I.T. II: Expanding upon the skills learned in the first year, you will be a leader among your peers, paired with a week of experience leading younger campers in camp activities, and outdoor living skills.  You’ll learn to safely facilitate camp program through skills specialization and gain experience in various group dynamics.

C.I.T.s will have a session break from Friday, July 30, 2021 through Monday, August 2, 2021. C.I.T.s must make arrangements to leave camp during this session break.

*NEW THIS YEAR* We’re using CampDoc for camper forms. You’ll receive an email approximately 5 business days following registration with instructions for filling in forms.
