As a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) at Camp Tanglefoot, you’ll participate in an extraordinary leadership program that not only shapes your future in camp counseling, but equips you with skills, experiences, and tools that will resonate throughout your life. This dynamic two-summer adventure is designed based on the insights of leading child development experts, Girl Scouts of the USA, and the American Camp Association. This isn't just a program; it's a transformative experience that builds a foundation for countless leadership opportunities in your future.
In CIT I, dive into the heart of leadership development. Explore and refine your unique leadership style, become a responsible and inspiring leader, and gain insights into program goals and contemporary issues impacting today's youth. Delve into the realms of child development, outdoor living skills, group dynamics, successful team-building, conflict resolution, and the art of creating positive experiences for younger campers.
In CIT II, elevate your skills to new heights and emerge as a leader among your peers. This session includes a week of experience leading younger campers through activities and outdoor living skills, gaining hands-on experience in facilitating camp programming and navigating various group dynamics. This session is your steppingstone to becoming a well-rounded and successful camp counselor. After successfully completing the CIT program, you're eligible to apply to the camp staff, making your mark as a true leader in the camp community.
CITs have a session break from Friday, July 26, 2024, at 1:15 p.m. through Monday, July 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. CITs must leave camp during this session break. It's your chance to recharge before returning to camp for more exciting adventures.
