Ready to see how power, policy, and change really happen? Capitol Girls is your all-access pass to the Iowa State Capitol, created just for Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts (grades 6–12) who are curious about leadership, justice, and using their voice.
Spend the afternoon inside one of Iowa’s most iconic buildings as you explore how laws are made, learn what really goes on behind the scenes, and meet adults who work in and around government every day. You’ll dive into big ideas like democracy, civic engagement, and leadership—and then take it to the top with a climb to the Capitol dome balcony for a view you won’t forget.
This isn’t just a field trip, it’s a chance to picture yourself in spaces where decisions are made. By the end of the event, you’ll have completed all the requirements for the Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador Democracy badge, while building confidence, curiosity, and career inspiration along the way.
Need an excused absence letter for school? We’ve got you covered—just email info@gsiowa.org.
Chaperones are welcome but not required and must register.
Please note: Our younger Girl Scout event, Girl Scout Day at the Capitol, takes place at the same date and time. Be sure to sign up for the event that matches your grade level. Girl Scout Day at the Capitol is for Brownies and Juniors; Capitol Girls is for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors.
Register by March 27.
